Annual Disney Camping Trip

Ok.  So this post might be a little late....ok, a LOT late.  Some how it just kept getting pushed down the post list.  But...it was a blast and I want to make sure it is included since this blog is a record of our year.  So, here ya go.
Back in Early April (yes, April...I know, I know.)  We took a big family camping trip to Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground.  This is a trip that my family use to take when we were growing up.  My brothers and I are super excited to be able to include this tradition with our families now too.
Last year when we took the trip we only needed one camp site.  This year we had three sites and my cousin and his family joined us too.  This made for 5 children all under the age of 4.  3 of them were 3 year old boys all within 6 months of each other.  What fun!!
We stayed 4 nights and 5 days.  There is so much to do on Disney property that we didn't even need to go into the parks to enjoy our stay.  Oh, did I mention that Miss A. was only 1 month old.  Yep, and she was a champ.
It rained for much of our first two days....I mean poured torrential down pours, then Price got sick and was throwing up and had an upset tummy...like wash the bedding 2 times (once in the middle of the night) upset tummy.  Mommy caught it too and I was so wore out by the end of the trip.  I think there were a few other mishaps but all in all the trip was such fun that the others have faded from memory already.  LOL!

There was LOTS of bike riding.  Here Miss Kim is giving the boys the low down on where they can ride.

Another Miss A.  Can't wait for both Miss A's to be able to play together!

There are several wonderful playgrounds right in the campground.  The boys loved them.

This is where Miss A. spent most of her time if she was not nursing.  At a month old she did pretty darn good for such a big trip.

Getting some time in at the Splash Park in between rain storms.

We like to hotel hop and check out all the different areas.  It was a great thing to do during all the rain storms and the kids all enjoy riding the different transportation to get between hotels.

It was right after Easter so Uncle Brian and Miss Kim put together a little egg hunt for the kids, and Nana provided some cute Easter Baskets.

Doesn't she look so excited about her Easter basket goodies?!?

Cutie Pie!!

We teamed up the families and each took a different night of cooking.  We mostly used the crock pots so after a long day of playing we had yummy meals ready to go.

Fort Wilderness has a great little areas with horses both small and the large ones they use for pulling the wagons over in the Magic Kingdom.

The Three Amigos.  I am so excited to watch these boys grow up together.  They each have such unique talents and get along quite well.

Some more time on one of the playgrounds.

Hooping it up with Poppy.

Waiting on the Electrical Water Parade to start.  It does not begin until about 10pm so the boys had to stay up quite late.  Mommy missed out on this one, it was our last night there and I was still adjusting to having a newborn so I was wiped out.  Mr. P. did his best despite not feeling good most of the time.  It's hard not to be happy at Disney surrounded by all of our family!

There it is.  I love this picture.  So much joy!

A group shot.

The boys ended their time "building a fire."  I wish I would have gotten a picture of their final "fire" because it was HUGE.  They drug this giant (for them) log over to the pile.  It took all three of them to carry it and by golly they did with out any adult telling them how.  We did make them remove all the sticks before we left so the park people didn't have to deal with a random, huge pile of sticks when they cleaned up the sites. :)

I love this family trip that is becoming a yearly tradition.  We are already planning for next.  We will be adding a child to my brothers family and it will be their turn to have to "new born" on the trip. :)

Time Flies When You're Having Fun...

At least that is how the saying goes.  Have you missed me?  I sure have missed blogging.  It's not that I didn't try like 100 times to sit down and write about what was going on but it seemed like there was always a MILLION other things that needed my time and attention.  We had a great summer and a ton of fun.  Now, to get it all documented.  Stay tuned because I have Summer Bucket List items to check off, a Vow Renewal,  a Mickey Mouse Birthday party, VBS, a bridal shower and back to school to blog about.  Not to mention Miss A. is growing, growing like crazy (and really needs to slow down).  I leave you now with this picture.

Mommy School {Week 1 Plan}

I started this idea last summer with Mr. P and he LOVED it!!  Mommy School (hope I am not infringing on anyone, I have seen this name used several times around the net) is a dedicated time I do an activity or set of activities with a specific purpose behind them with Mr. P.  Sometimes it is a craft, some times a learning activity, or sometimes a cooking activity.  The point is that I have something specific in mind that I want to accomplish with Mr. P or something I want us to explore together.  He LOVES that he gets one on one time with me (to the best of my ability) and he enjoys the learning that goes along with it.  Soooo...I am going to try to post what we did the previous week each week.  Thant way I can let you know exactly what to do to make the activity successful.  Usually 3-4 days of activities.

Week 1 Activities:

Follow My Path -  Prewriting Skills

I saw this idea over at Meaningful Mama. Mr. P needs to work on his writing skills but I wanted to make it fun.  This is similar to a maze but what I liked is that I can make the path wide to start with and slowly decrease the size.  As I was drawing the paths I also thought about some of the motions he needs to do to write his name.

DIY Lego Board Game - Counting/ Adding/ Subtracting

Mr. P really enjoyed this activity.  He did a great job of adding and subtracting the Legos from his "person"  I also made him read the number on the dice for his turn and my own.  It is very important that he begin to have an automatic visual representation of numbers in his head.  Saying "5" and being able to see "5" in his head is an important foundational math skill.  I am sure we will play this game again.

I found several game boards around pinterest, but I could not find a printable one that was good quality.  The one I used was very blurry when I blew it up to print it.  I went over it in marker and it served its purpose but I will probably make my own for the next time we play.  I will post an update when I do.

Bingo Paint Markers - Letter Recognition/ Number Recognition/ Fine Motor Skills/ Name Writing Practice

We used these last summer and Mr. P requested to do more activities this year when I told him Mommy School was coming back.  I think I picked them up at the Dollar Tree.  I wrote all the letters of the alphabet on a large sheet of paper.  Then I wrote them again and cut them up and put them in a container.  Mr. P had to draw a card out, identify the letter, then find it on the paper and put a mark on it.  We repeated with number 1-20.  He also enjoys just playing with them, so I gave him a big sheet of paper and he traced his name and drew pictures.  (You may want to do the name and pictures first to let them "play" with the tool before using it for other purposes).  I found that we could only do a few letters at a time because he loses patience.  Oh well, these games will last us a while this summer.

Miss A is 3 Months

Dear Miss A,
You are 3 months old today and I can hardly call you a new born any more.  You have stolen not only mommy and daddy's hearts but also your big brothers.  You are the perfect addition to our family.  We love you so very much!!

At 3 Months you:
Love to "talk" and blow raspberries
Can roll over from front to back (although you have yet to let mommy see it)
Can push your head up to 90 degrees and on occasion get your chest off the floor
Love your tummy time
Have found your toes
Love to suck on your fist
Are a voracious nurser
Hold onto mommy's shirt when you nurse
Have an amazing smile that lights up the room
Refuse to sleep on your back in your crib
Sleep in your swing at night  - see above ;)
Can sleep "though the night" (usually 6-7 hours at a time)
Hate to be confined to your car seat for long periods of time
Love to stand up and are very good at it
Can grab your toys hanging on your bouncy seat
Enjoy sitting at the table with us at dinner time
Like your baths
Have figured out that if you kick your hanging toys they will make noise (and you love to kick them)
Love to watch your big brother play
Are an amazing blessing from God!!

Went to a friends awesome Bike Parade party.  The mom had a bunch of "old fashion" bike decorations.  Streamers, straws, playing cards, pipe cleaners, garland.  All the kids decorated their bikes and had a parade for the parents.  Super cute!!

Stop light fruit kabobs for the bike party.

Mr. P made me dinner one day when I came to pick him up from Nana's after work. Yummy!

Mr. P said "Look mommy, pineapples."
